Day for Night chronicles the production of ‘Je vous présente Paméla’, a clichéd melodrama starring ageing screen icon Alexandre, former diva Séverine, young heart-throb Alphonse and a British actress, Julie Baker, who is recovering from a nervous breakdown. In between are several vignettes chronicling the stories of the crew-members and the director, Ferrand, who tangles with the practical problems of making a movie.
