Description
Max Ophüls adapts three Maupassant short stories to explore human nature in this anthology film. In ‘Le masque’, an aging lothario learns more about himself than he cares to when he wears a mask to cover his wrinkles. In ‘La maison Tellier’ the proprietress of a brothel closes up shop one day for an unusual personal mission. And in ‘Le modèle’ a model and her artist-lover pay the price for her romantic impulsiveness.
