Description
In Edwardian England, Maurice, a young man studying at Cambridge, is stunned and overjoyed when his close friend Clive declares his love for him. Maurice returns his feelings, but is disappointed to learn that Clive considers their love to be more of an intellectual concept. Maurice is heartbroken when Clive ends their relationship in favour of marriage and a political career, but then he begins a passionate affair with Clive’s gamekeeper, Scudder, and they decide to risk their reputations by openly living together as lovers.
