In a working-class district of Paris, Albert, an impecunious street singer, is in love with a beautiful Romanian girl, Pola – but his best friend Louis and the gangster Fred are also under her spell. When Albert is wrongly imprisoned, Pola looks elsewhere for comfort, and tensions rise between the three men.
